Rosie’s Story
Bay Shetland Mare
DOB 1988
Came to Remus 17 August 2009
This little aged mare had been used by unscrupulous owners to pull a cart. She was often seen struggling to pull all the weight of the cart and the people, as well as coping with severe arthritis and laminitis. At Remus she can now live her life to the full without anyone abusing her.
Rosie does still struggle with laminitis and suffers from Equine Metabolic Syndrome, which is similar to Diabetes type 2 in humans. She also suffers from Cushings Disease (PPID) which is effectively a tumour of the pituitary gland at the base of the brain which sends hormones through the body.
Rosie is best friends with Shetland Pony Dandy.
